The TULSA Procedure
Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men, with 1 in 8 men being diagnosed yearly. Treatment options have historically included radical surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, among other more invasive procedures that left patients with a variety of life-changing side-effects.
Today there is The TULSA Procedure, an outpatient treatment that offers a new solution to the thousands of men diagnosed with prostate cancer and enlarged prostate (BPH) each year.
The TULSA Procedure combines real-time MR imaging, directional thermal ultrasound and closed-loop temperature feedback control, delivering transurethral prostate tissue ablation of whole-gland or partial gland prostate tissue. The system is designed to be customizable to the individual treatment needs of each patient.
The TULSA Procedure is incision-free, radiation-free, provides minimal to no pain, a speedy recovery, as well as decreased risk of side effects common to most invasive prostate surgeries, such as urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction.
For patients who qualify, our TULSA Procedure location provides a team consisting of a trained urologist, anesthesiologist and board-certified radiologists who have also been trained in the TULSA system. The advantage to having this outpatient procedure in our dedicated suite at the imaging center, as opposed to a hospital setting, comes down to patient convenience. We provide the patient with all the services he needs in one location. Our team concept helps to ensure that the best trained physicians perform the various tasks necessary to ensure a safe outcome, performed under an optimal clinical setting.
