PET/MRI
PET/MRI is a new, cutting-edge hybrid imaging modality that combines Positron Emission Tomography (PET) with Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). This powerful diagnostic imaging tool allows providers to simultaneously evaluate the functional information provided by PET with the high-contrast anatomical information provided by MRI. PET/MRI has several clinical applications, most notably in Alzheimer’s, epilepsy and oncology imaging.

A PET scan measures important body functions, such as blood flow, oxygen use, and sugar (glucose) metabolism, to help doctors evaluate how well organs and tissues are functioning.
MRI creates detailed images of internal body structures such as organs, tissues and bones.
PET/MRI is cutting-edge technology that combines these two powerful tools into a single exam.
The dynamic combination of molecular, functional and anatomic information provides essential data for critical treatment decisions. Moreover, PET/MRI provides exceptional image quality, lower radiation in a single exam, and more conclusive diagnosis.
PET/MRI's precision insights, low radiation and convenience are also especially important for pediatric patients and patients in therapies requiring repeat imaging.
Benefits
Benefits of PET/MRI include:
- Convenience of two exams at once
- Reduced radiation dose
- Enhanced image quality
- More comprehensive diagnosis
